Joel Davis is the Co-founder of Cribstone Capital Management and the founder of its predecessor firm, Joel D. Davis and Associates. Registered Representative magazine, in their November 1999 article about him, describes Joel perfectly as a “Professor of Social Capital.”* For more than 30 years, Joel has helped create purpose for the financial resources of many Maine families, helping them live a legacy rather than just leave one.
Joel has served countless non-profit organizations in both a consulting and advisory role, and played an integral part in helping CEI, one of the nation’s premier Community Development Corporations, create the CEI Investment Notes, a method for which investors can create local impact with their investment resources.
Following a four year stint serving Governor Joseph Brennan in the Office of Energy Resources, Joel launched a career as a Financial Advisor with IDS Financial Services and remained with their successor firms until launching Cribstone Capital Management with Scott Upham. Throughout, his passion and knowledge created the foundation from which our company stands.
Joel has a BA Economics from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, a MA in Resource Economics from the University of Maine, and a MS Financial Services from the College of Financial Planning. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, College of Financial Planning and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst, attained through the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
From a personal perspective, Joel and his wife Sarah have three adult children and have recently embarked on the journey of a lifetime aboard their 35 foot trawler, M/V Snow Goose. Over the next few months/years, they will cruise America’s Great Loop.
